Breast drooping is caused by sudden weight loss, childbirth, breastfeeding and aging. Sudden weight loss is the main cause of breast drooping for single women, whereas married women normally experience breast drooping after childbirth. Patients that need to improve drooping must receive breast lift, whereas patients that need to improve drooping and enlarge size of breasts must receive augmentation mammoplasty with breast lift. Also, if the large size of breasts causes drooping, reduction mammoplasty (+breast lift) must be implemented. Patients that have small, drooping breasts can receive augmentation mammoplasty to improve both size and drooping.
Special care is not required after surgery but patients must avoid smoking and drinking for 2 weeks. Possible complications include infection, hematoma, asymmetry, scarring, breastfeeding disorder and in some cases nipple or areola necrosis.
